Those\u00a0are valuable relationships that I treasure today.<\/p>\n<p>So, when I read about the contest below offered by Charles Schwab I could not resist sharing it with you. So, for those of you who are reading our blog post on Labor Day this is for you.<strong><strong><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><strong><strong>Oh, Chuck! I Blew My Cash\u2026on a Giant Bounce House!<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"story_subheadline\">\n<p>Charles Schwab announced the grand prize winner of its first\u00a0\u201cOh, Chuck! I Blew my Cash\u201d contest. Dan Lamoureux of Thornton, Ill.\u00a0will be awarded $10,000 in a Schwab brokerage account for sharing his\u00a0story of a regrettable impulse purchase: a\u00a0castle bounce house.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s hear it for Dan!<\/p>\n<p>According to his submission, Dan thought the\u00a0\u00a0$600 bounce house would be a hit at family parties for years to come,\u00a0but the novelty wore off quickly and now the mammoth deflated castle is\u00a0stored in his grandmother\u2019s garage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe created the <em><strong>Oh Chuck<\/strong><\/em> contest to help drive conversations about\u00a0money, and we hope that the stories we gathered will inspire people to\u00a0think carefully about their spending decisions and to seek the advice\u00a0they need to get back on the right financial track,\u201d said Laurine\u00a0Garrity, Schwab\u2019s chief marketing officer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Schwab also recognized four runners up with $5,000 in a Schwab brokerage account and four honorable mentions with $1,000 in a Schwab brokerage\u00a0account.<\/p>\n<p>Runners Up: Katie Kelly of Carlisle, Pa., who blew $2,000 on an RV,\u00a0\u00a0which turned out to be stolen; Gus Campanario of Issaquah, Wash., who\u00a0\u00a0blew $250 on wine for his anniversary and his wife unknowingly finished\u00a0off the bottle without him; William Stuart of Tewksbury, Mass., who blew\u00a0$6,000 on a purple school bus that no one wants to ride in; Walter\u00a0Arnett of Lexington, Ky., who blew $2,874.36 on plush toys.<\/p>\n<p>Honorable Mentions: Joel Levinson of Culver City, Calif., who blew $117\u00a0on a musical jug and puppet; Cara Braude of New York, N.Y., who blew\u00a0\u00a0$2,500 on attending friends\u2019 weddings; Dusan Slepcevic of Henderson,\u00a0\u00a0Nev., who blew $871.29 on a portable bathroom; Janine Schaults of Oak\u00a0Lawn, Ill., who blew $60 on a unicorn mask.<\/p>\n<p>So should we enter with the $15,000 we spent on the high priced coach? Let me know.<\/p>\n<p>I personally like the title, Oh Chuck.
